Byron N Miller


Mr. Miller attended college and law school at the University of South Dakota, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry in 1977 and his Juris Doctorate in 1981. He was a member of the Law Review and the author of "Admissibility of Other Offense Evidence after State v. Houghton," South Dakota Law Review, Winter, 1980. After being admitted to the bar, he practiced law in the United States Army's Judge Advocate General's Corps for seven years, serving as a prosecutor for the 24th Infantry Division and as a criminal defense attorney in the Republic of Korea and Fort Knox, Kentucky. In 1988, he became associated with the law firm of Stites & Harbison in Louisville, Kentucky, and from 1993 to 1998, he was a partner in the firm's litigation section. Mr. Miller concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and the defense of complex medical malpractice and products liability actions. He is an experienced trial lawyer having tried over 150 cases before juries, including mass tort cases involving multiple plaintiffs. He is a member of the Kentucky and South Dakota Bar Associations, as well as Kentucky Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. He is licensed to practice in Kentucky, South Dakota and numerous federal courts. He is also a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army.
